A bit about the Plaza
Plaza Vieja is a small, traditional square tucked away in the hamlet of Cerrado del Espino, in the Barranco of Arguineguin. Surrounded by old stone houses, terraced hillsides, and deep ravines, it reflects a slower, more rooted side of island life.
The plaza has long been a quiet meeting point for locals — a place for conversation, rest, and community gatherings. Its simplicity is part of its charm: no crowds, no noise, just the feeling of history and everyday life unfolding at its own pace.
Set against the dramatic landscape of the Baranco, Plaza Vieja offers a sense of calm that contrasts sharply with the busier coastal areas of the island. It’s a spot where Gran Canaria’s rural soul is still very much alive.
